Defence Minister Rajnath Singh issued a stern warning to Pakistan during his address in Udhampur on Saturday, asserting that any act of terrorism on Indian soil will incur a heavy cost. He also paid heartfelt tributes to Major Somnath Sharma and Brigadier Usman for laying down their lives to protect India’s unity and integrity.
“Pakistan wants to weaken India from within. But it must not forget that bravehearts like Major Somnath Sharma and Brigadier Usman gave their lives for this nation’s unity. Their sacrifices are a reminder of our unbreakable resolve,” Singh said.
Referring to the recent Operation Sindoor, the Defence Minister emphasized that it was not merely a retaliatory act, but a strategic warning to Pakistan that sponsoring terrorism would come with increasingly severe consequences.
“Operation Sindoor is not just a response to the Pahalgam terror attack. It is a continuation of our assertive defence policy—following the 2016 Surgical Strike and 2019 Balakot Air Strike. The message is loud and clear: terrorism will be crushed at its roots,” he declared.
Rajnath Singh further underlined India’s readiness to tackle any threat, stating that “any terrorist attack will cost Pakistan dearly,” and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding national security.
“India is fully prepared to take every necessary step to protect its people and territory. Pakistan’s campaign to inflict pain through terrorism will now meet resolute retaliation,” he said.
Singh was in Udhampur to lead the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations, where he also interacted with Army personnel and commended their bravery and dedication, especially during Operation Sindoor.
The Defence Minister’s address sent a powerful message of national unity, military preparedness, and a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism, while honouring the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for India.
